Empowering Paddle UK: Six Years of Growth and Innovation with JustGo

Paddle UK, one of JustGo’s long-term customers, made history at the Paris 2024 Olympics with a remarkable haul of 4 medals across six events in the canoe slalom and kayak cross program. Their exceptional performance has brought glory to the nation – and set the stage for more success as we eagerly anticipate their participation in the upcoming Paralympic Games in Paris soon.
With a thriving community of over 90,000 members and nearly 400 clubs, Paddle UK has set a precedent for growth, engagement, and retention in the sport. Leveraging the power of JustGo’s membership management platform, they’ve seamlessly organized key events, training, and competitions year-round, fostering a vibrant and dedicated member base.
We took the opportunity to speak with Darryll Shaw, Interim Head of Membership and Partnerships at Paddle UK, to explore their journey as a National Governing Body, the challenges they’ve overcome, and the incredible progress they’ve achieved over the years.
Safeguarding a growing community
When it comes to safeguarding and community qualifications, Paddle UK has a lot of ground to cover. Within the realm of coaching alone, there are many essential roles, including instructors, leaders, guides, umpires, referees, course providers, and many more key roles.
As the provider of training and awards, Paddle UK relies on JustGo’s credential management features as its source of truth to ensure that everyone is thoroughly trained, qualified, and equipped with the necessary knowledge to excel in their respective roles, all while maintaining the safety of the community and its members.
Taking the community digital
Paddle UK has successfully deployed around 100,000 digital membership cards to its community, marking a significant step in its digital transformation. In its initial phase, the Digital Wallet showcases memberships, the latest status of member credentials, and training and safeguarding status.
The card is dynamically validated and updated, giving administrators, parents, and members the confidence that everyone’s qualifications are current and valid.
Plus, environmental initiatives are a key part of Paddle UK’s strategy, and the Digital Wallet plays a crucial role by reducing the need for plastic cards and strengthening their commitment to sustainability year after year.
Growing with JustGo
Over the past 6 years, Paddle UK has been growing, streamlining and simplifying its processes, and as its technology counterpart, so has JustGo. The organization has automated most of its processes, from quickly refunding payments to issuing credentials to members, giving its administrators the time to focus on member-focused initiatives and organizing exciting events and competitions.
